BOT Victory for Paddy!

The sight of Mr Paddy McGlinchey trudging to the practice ground at Prehen has become a familiar one to City of Derry members over the last couple of years. Rain, hail, sunshine, storm force winds have all been ignored by Paddy in his quest to lower his handicap! On Thursday this dogged determination to succeed was evident again when he topped the table in this week’s Thursday Society outing. Out with 23 points noted on his scorecard he hauled in a further 13 points over the closing holes to win with 36 points on a break of tie by virtue of his superior finishing holes. Vice-Captain Mr Michael Carroll captured second place. With 24 points accumulated on his outward journey Mr Caroll looked to have a stranglehold on the competition but a wayward shot on the easy Par 4 10th,”Spires” resulted in an ugly blank recorded on his card and a struggle to get things back on an even keel before eventually losing out on BOT with a mere 12 points for his closing holes. Mr David McIvor captured third spot with 35 points on BOT from the consistent Mr James Desmond who carded the same score but fell out of the prize positions due to an abysmal back nine of 11 points.
