McCallion defies the Weather

Big hitting  Barry McCallion (21) one of the Club's most regular competitors finally hit the jackpot after many valiant efforts and recorded his first Major success to take the Inaugural X212 Open. Despite the unseasonably cold and wet weather he scored a fine 41 points for a most convincing five shot winning margin. He even had the luxury of being able to blank the last hole. With his power the prediction is single figure handicap before season end. Peter Leeson  (16) stumbled badly over the last few holes but his 36 points was still good enough to secure second place. Third and fourth place were decided on a tie break, Shane Kelly (18) taking third on 35 points over Paul Concannon (14) thanks to his superior back nine. A very modest net 31 points was all that was needed to give Stephen McKeegan (3) the gross prize on a count back. George Curry (13) just missed the Bus for the big prizes, his 21 points securing him the first nine but a bad finish cost him dearly. Stephen Orr (11) won the second nine on 18 points after recovering from a disappointing start.
