Doherty on Form for First Sunday Society of 2016.

Despite the undeniable attractions of the Ryder Cup Single matches on Sunday television  Mr George Baldrick welcomed a considerable number of members to his first competition of his Sunday Society Captain’s year. When the competition closed it was long-hitting Mr Stephen Doherty (11) who pocketed the first spoils of the year with his fine 39 point total. Mr Doherty’s round was always steady but he did cut things a touch close when he failed to score at the tricky Par 4 16th, “The Widow’s”! The inevitable Mr Graham Hepburn (4) landed second place and with his 38 points announced his serious challenge for the Golfer Of the Year title which he has narrowly missed in recent seasons.

Mr Adrian Johnston (25) carded 35 points to take third place and Mr George Phillips (15) lifted fourth prize with the same score. Mr Phillips will be regretting a fifteen point back nine that included ugly blemishes at his fourteenth and eighteenth holes when a score at either of these would have seen claim a much higher podium finish for the first time in 2016. The fifth prize on offer went to Mr Michael McDaid (7) with 33 points. Despite finishing on the same score Mr Tony McCann and Mr Ryan Rutherford were bested by Mr McDaid’s superior back nine.

The Sunday Society continues throughout the winter months and members may enter on any given Sunday for the measly sum of £3. Don’t tarry, get entering now!
