Ryan Rallies to Win Thursday Society

With four players carding 33 pointers in the Thursday Society this week it was down to the tie-break rules to uncover a winner. The first faller was thirteen-handicapper Cecil Thompson who has been close in recent weeks but always just seems to come up a little short. Third place went to the resurgent Gerry Webb(18) who, with 21 points for the opening holes,  must surely be regretting the four double-bogeys without which he would surely have romped to victory. Jason Donnell(11) will also be kicking himself after blanking the little Par 3, 17b and bogeying seven and nine. Even a superb birdie three at the tricky 11th, “Prehen” cannot atone for such mistakes and he had to be content with second place. The eventual winner was Ryan Rutheford(13) who played steady golf for most of his round and rallied after recording no score at the tricky Par 4 6th, “Swilken” to record an eighteen point total for the opening holes before coasting home over the closing holes to record a tie-break victory.
