McDaid Top Dog at Prehen!

The excellently supported competition on Saturday at Prehen was the Rainbow Re-Homing Open(L&G). One-handicapper Mr Ernie Heywood led the field for most of the day after shooting a Best Gross 67 for a total of 40 points. Five birdies peppered his card and all looked done and dusted until the very last card of the day was submitted. That card belonged to eight-handicapper Mr Michael McDaid. Eleven pars, two birdies, four bogies and a single double-bogey gave Mr McDaid his score of 40 points but, crucially, a back nine of 23 points for a break-of-tie win!

Mr Jason Donnell(18) was the best of the chasing pack of 39 pointers when he just shaded out the in-form Mr Edward Burton(12) with a superior back nine score. But, spare a thought for the man in the dog-house, Mr Stephen Orr(11), whose 39 points would have got him third spot but for the golfer’s cardinal error – failure to sign the scorecard. Mr Orr was last seen with a somewhat downcast hang-dog look as he read the results notice-board. The best of the ladies was Ms Marie Clifford(29) with 29 points.
