A large field contested the annual Samaritans’ Charity Open and despite heavy showers scoring was excellent. Mr Robert Glackin(18) shot halves of 21 and 22 points for his winning 43 point total. A birdie four at the long Par 5 3rd, “Longfellow” undid the damage of a single pointer at the previous hole and steady scoring on the back nine ensured victory by two points.

Mr Brian Burns(14) occupied second place when the cards were counted. The tricky Par 4 6th,”Swilken”, was the only blemish on Mr Burns’ otherwise impressive card. Mr Graham Hepburn(4) returned to third spot on the winner’s podium with his 39 point total and Mr Christopher Ross(8) tipped his hat to his fellow competitors as he carded 37 points and took the Gross Prize on the day. Ms Rosaleen McAnulla(23) lifted the Ladies’ Prize with 31 points while Mr Richard Hamiliton’s 20 points took the Front Nine Prize and Mr Andy McFaul’s 22 point total was the best of the Back Nine efforts.
