Callen’s First Win!

A B.O.T was required to decide the winner of  Saturday’s Stableford at City of Derry when two players carded 34 point totals. The result went in favour of young gun Lewis Callen(18) whose win announces that he will be a force to be reckoned with this coming season.  Out with 22 points for his front nine he added a further twelve on the return journey and, but for a simple mistake at the easy Par 4 10th, “Spires”, he would not have needed the tie breaker at all. Second place went to hardy annual Alfie Kane(8) who is never far away from challenging for the prizes. On this occasion he will be regretting bogey at the Spires without which he might have won the competition outright. The B.O.T. rules where also brought into play when no fewer than six players carded 32 pointers to tie for the third prize on offer. Gerard Cunningham, Thomas McClintock, Basil, McIvor, Stephen Orr, Cecil Thompson will all have tales of woe to tell about missed putts and misplaced  trees but doughty campaigner Norman Kane(13) bested them all to lift third prize with 32 points.
