Easy Victory for Christie!

The Thursday Open Series at Prehen was played this week in perfect golfing conditions with receptive greens, virtually no wind to speak of and practically balmy temperatures! Bliss! Perfect for Mr Christie Donaghy(14) to strike back against the golfing demons that have plagued his game for some months. On Thursday Mr Donaghy avoided the dreaded NRs of late, substituted birdies in their stead and ran out an easy winner by two shots from his nearest rival. Birdies at the card-wrecker Par 3 8th,”The Crow’s Nest”, the revamped Par 4 11th, “Prehen” and the tricky Par 4 16th, “The Widows” were the spice on an otherwise steady performance that saw him card 43 points.

Mr Gerry Webb belied his handicap, risen in recent times to a lofty twenty-four,  to record a split of 19/22 to card his 41 point total that saw him lift second prize. Third place went to Mr David McIvor(18) with 40 points but he will be smarting over the mistake at the Par 4 17th, “The Red Barn” that was playing at it’s easiest in the benign conditions. Five-handicapper Mr Ian Anthony traversed the course in a mere 72 shots for his 39 points to take the Gross Prize.
