Connor McKnight takes Home Sam's Prize.

There was big turnout of members competing for the honour of taking home one of the
Major prize on offer at City of Derry over the weekend. Two players recorded 42 points and with a favourable tie break it fell to Connor McKnight (11) to take home the coveted prize so generously sponsored by Prehen's most highly regarded Professional Sam Smallwoods.  Alfie Kane (10) took the second prize, after the count back and was highly pleased to be back on the rostrum once again. Cormac McKeone (5) finished in third place, he had 41 points as did Gary McDaid (16) who lost out on the tie break and  finished in fourth nett. Ernie Heywood (2) was once again the gross prize winner, on 38 points. First nine prize-winner was Ralph Hamilton (13) with 21 points on a count back. Clear winner of the back nine was Rory O Hare (21) who had a very impressive 24 points. Spare a thought for the Sponsor Sam Smallwoods who nearly played the round of his life along with Eric Watson, Brian Long and Andy McFeeley. Seven under gross after 17 holes suffice to say that the wee men took over as he played the final hole.
