Mac to fore in Sunday Stableford

After the horrendous conditions of Friday Night and Saturday there was unbridled delight on Sunday when members found the course in playable condition. The odd shower for the later contestants failed to dampen the players’ enthusiasm as they enjoyed splendid golfing conditions for early autumn. Mr Paul McIntosh (13) proved to be the player of the day as he carded 43 points to take first prize. Traversing the course in a mere 76 shots Mr McIntosh recorded birdies at the short Par 4 6th, “Swilken”, the dangerous Par 3 8th, “The Crow’s Nest and the inviting Par 3 12th “Billy’s”. Mr Mark Sheridan (11) recorded 39 points to lift second place and record his ninth handicap reduction of the year in the process. If he continues at this rate it will not be long until he has achieved his ambition of single figure golfing handicap status. Mr Brendan Duffy (11) recorded 38 points but had to be content with third prize when the BOT  rules were implemented and Mr Ernie Heywood lifted yet another gross prize with his 68 shot round for his 38 point total.

Members are advised that the Thursday Society launches on October 6th with Mr Alastair Crockett taking up the Skipper’s reins. The Sunday Society also launches that week with Sunday Society Captain Mr George Baldrick inviting all members to book tee-times for the first event on Sunday October 2nd. This year members are also invited to enter the Desmond’s Winter League kicking off on Saturday October 8th. By October 5th members must register their four-man team with Club Head Professional Sam Smallwoods who will supply all the details required for participation.
