Maturity Triumphs at Prehen!

Ageing wine is said to improve the quality and this week the oldest of Prehen’s golfing clientele emphatically proved this is also the case for golfers! Robert (Bert) Whoriskey(14) put paid to all comers as he ran home an easy winner by a three point margin in this week’s Thursday Society outing. The fluid economical swing of the old master proved ideal for the testing stormy conditions as he carded a fine 22 points for the front nine holes. Steady play was his successful game-plan but he also added a touch of class with a birdie three at the tricky Par 4 5th, “The Gap” which is renowned as a deceptively short card-wrecker par excellence. The back holes were just a case of coasting home in the wind for Bert as he added a further fourteen points to the twenty-two he had already accumulated to card an impressive 36 point total.

Martin McNulty(8), benefiting from a recent spell of warm-weather training, carded an impressive 33 points to lift second place. However, Martin may have used up all his “fortuna” as he was forced to rely on the tie-break rules for his placing when hard-working competition team member Martin Doherty(16) quietly posted the same score.

Thursday Society  participants are advised that the lucky winners of recent competitions should now be able to access their surfeit of abundance as winnings have recently been accredited to their accounts!
