The Sunday Society was played in much more benign conditions than the previous day, but vicious showers and a bitingly cold wind made sure that those who braved the course had to keep their wits, and waterproofs, about them! When the clubs were stored in lockers at the end of the day Brian McClelland (17) found that his 35 point was enough to take first spot by virtue of a break of tie. Tony McCann (13) took second position after a steady driving performance and Pat Tuohy (20) finished in third with a fine 34 point total to his name. The big-hitting Stephen Doherty(12) blasted 33 points to take fourth spot. It took a break-of-tie to decide the lesser positions but when the smoke of battle cleared it was Gavin Morren who took fifth place with 32 points from Paul Concannon (13) who had to be satisified with sixth prize. Mr Morren will, however, be returning to coach Sam Smallwoods for an in-depth analysis of his game plan since its disintegration over the first four holes, where he could only post a measly two points, surely cost him the competition One consolation for Mr Morren is that things can only, and will, get better!

The Sunday Society faithful will at this point be looking forward to April 10th when they get the opportunity to play for the Captain’s Prize of Mr Jim McCann. A meal will be served in the clubhouse at 6pm and the Prize presentation will follow shortly thereafter.
